MEET OUR PASTOR
Pastor Derrick D. Young Sr. was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and is a graduate of Wenonah High School. He earned his Master of Ministry as well as his Masters of Arts in Biblical Studies from Grace School of Theology in Woodlands, Texas. Succeeding his grandfather, Pastor Emeritus Jesse Young 15-year tenure as church pastor, he presently serves as the Senior Pastor of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, affectionately known as “THE MOUNT” in the Grasselli Heights community of Birmingham, Al. In 2024, under his leadership, Discipleship training was started and is held every second and fourth Sunday.
With such a strong understanding and deep connection to the Word of God. Pastor Young has ministered to the congregation of The Mount in a powerful way. The members at The Mount has grown tremendously in such a short period of time. Pastor Young is married to Kendra Ward- Young Esq. and together they have three beautiful children Cameron Ward, Dallas Young, and Derrick Young Jr. (D2).
